Jones vs. Cormier 2: The Rematch

It was announced that former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones will get a shot at the championship he never lost when he faces the current light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier. Jones was stripped of the title and suspended from the UFC after his arrest for a hit-and-run felony. Now Jones has the opportunity to win back the belt from his bitter rival.

This was confirmed by UFC President Dana White. White has announced that the most probable spot for this epic rematch is set for UFC 197 on April 23. In January of last year, Jones successfully defended the light heavyweight title against Cormier. However, he was stripped of the title 3 months later after being arrested on hit-and-run charges. In Jones' absence, Cormier went on to win the vacant title. He defended his championship while the former champion was sorting out his legal issues. Jones eventually pleaded guilty and was handed probation before being reinstated by the UFC. Jones will now get the chance to reclaim the title he never lost when he looks to defeat Cormier.

Jon Jones' irresponsible actions, that resulted in his arrest, will never be forgotten by the UFC and the media. However, many people believe that he deserves the opportunity to fight Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight title. This is because he has been a fighting champion up until he was stripped of the belt. Plus, everyone deserves a second chance. Jones has successfully defended the title a record 8 times, making him the fighter with the most consecutive title defenses in the light heavyweight division. I am very eager to see how this fight will go down at UFC 197, considering Jones has defeated Cormier before.
